About the Novel

This novel follows Shelli, a young woman from Montana who dreams, in vivid and unbroken sequence, the life of another woman named Darla — a woman shaped by decisions made in haste, without anyone to trust or turn to. Where Shelli has always had a family steady enough to catch her, Darla has only ever had herself. Their two lives, lived side by side across the distance of a dream, ask the same question from opposite directions: how far do the decisions we make — and the people who guide us through them — reach into the lives we'll never live to see. This website is a companion to the novel, "The Weight of Decisions — A Montana Family Saga."   Explore the family's history and the people who shaped it here, so that when you meet them in the pages of the novel, it will be like reading about people you already know.
